A GUIDE TO AKC LICENSED DOG SHOW JUDGES

Judging the Judges provides a forum for dog show exhibitors to enter their opinions & comments regarding the judges they have shown under and in return have access to the resulting data.  We have gone to great lengths to provide an objective and fair means to rate individual judges.  The data members submit is absolutely confidential.

 We realize that there are many excellent, objective, and knowledgeable judges.  However, just as in all endeavors, there are some who do not strive for excellence, who are not knowledgeable and, the most disheartening, those who play politics.

 In the August 1996 issue of Canine Chronicle Ric Chashoudian wrote, “There are plenty of good judges in this country.  Unfortunately some of these breed clubs who are holding specialties do not use the very qualified people, either because of politics or not knowing who the knowledgeable people are. I find this very disheartening because these very important breed specialty shows are the backbone of our sport and so important to the breeders, especially the new ones, who get their brains addled when they watch bad breed judging.”  We believe this is true for all breed shows as well, particularly for the new exhibitors and the owner/handlers who are not able to show every weekend but are the backbone of our sport.
